Spotify Wrapped 2025: The Soundtrack of Everybody’s Year

Spotify launched Spotify Wrapped in December 2016, and it offers an annual breakdown of the users’ listening habits throughout the entire year. It allows users to view their most-listened-to songs, artists, and genres over the previous year—their Spotify highlights per se. But what’s the hype and why are users so obsessed with their Wrapped?

Since its drop in 2016, users anticipate the release of Spotify Wrapped every year, becoming a cultural phenomenon. This year, users should expect its release around the last week of November or the first week of December.

Over the past years, Spotify released Spotify wrapped on the following dates:

  1. 2016 – December 6
  2. 2017 – December 6
  3. 2018 – December 6
  4. 2019 – December 5
  5. 2020 – December 1
  6. 2021 – December 1
  7. 2022 – November 30
  8. 2023 – November 29
  9. 2024 – December 4

Hence, users can expect a breakdown of what they went through during the year by skimming through the songs and artists they most listened to before the year ends. Users can take a stroll down memory lane while listening to the music they grew to love over the past year. To put it simply, Spotify Wrapped provides users with the soundtrack of their entire 2025.

Why do we wait for Spotify Wrapped 2025?

Users love waiting for Spotify Wrapped, and the reason is simple—nostalgia and identity.

Sometimes, we tend to forget what happened to us a month or two ago, Spotify or music helps us remember. Whether good or bad, Spotify Wrapped reminds us of what we have been through throughout the year. Music has that magical element, and Spotify recognizes that.

Spotify’s yearly insights on our listening habits also give us a glimpse of our personality and behavior. It can also give others a perception of who we are. Music is not only a form of art and entertainment, it also shows what we like and enjoy.

Music is another form of self-expression, and each Spotify Wrapped is personalized for every user. Thus, giving others a quick summary of our identity, if not, an aspect of it.

We, as people, naturally love being perceived and looking back to the past, hence our obsession with Spotify Wrapped 2025. It gives users a wave of nostalgia and the satisfaction of self-expression, with music playing in the background.

As of November 17, 2025, we only have a few more weeks to wait until we can ponder on our year while we listen to the music we love. Just make sure to keep your Spotify notifications turned on!
