Miss Earth 2025: Carrying 25 Years of Beauty and Advocacy

Filipino Pride is more than alive this year, thanks to talented pioneers making waves globally. From sports, academia, pageantry, and entertainment, fellow Filipinos are bringing honor and hope to the nation amidst the pressing issues and challenges plaguing the country.

Hence, the Filipino community is arguably one of the most devoted followers in these global competitions, especially in the pageant scene. Moreover, pageant fans await abundance as November 2025 begins, which is also this year’s crowning season.

Various pageant competitions will hold their coronation next month, including Miss Earth 2025. This Philippine-hosted annual pageant is celebrating its “Silver Lining” theme, carrying 25 years of legacy of interlinking beauty and cause, honoring women who wield advocacies of social and environmental awareness.

Joy Barcoma from Bacoor, Cavite, will represent the country at Miss Earth 2025. She won the title of Miss Philippines Earth in the preliminaries on August 10, 2025. Her passionate stance on her advocacies promoting disaster resilience, mental health, and combating corruption led to her triumph.

While preparing for the competition, Joy made various appearances through courtesy visits, television guestings, radio interviews, and hosting at local pageants across the country. In addition, she solidifies her online presence through her humor, capturing the attention of netizens, especially Gen Zs, turning it into one of her charms.

As of now, the Philippines holds four Miss Earth crowns, making the country own the record for the most wins in the pageant’s history. This feat began with Karla Henry taking the country’s first crown (2008), a back-to-back victory by Jamie Herrell and Angelia Ong (2014-2015), and Karen Ibasco, who is the Philippines’ recent winner (2017).

Miss Earth is one of the “Big Four,” alongside Miss International, Miss World, and Miss Universe. The Philippines’ aforementioned achievements strengthen the Filipina beauty’s foothold in the pageant realm, a legacy further carried out with Joy Barcoma’s journey as Miss Philippines Earth 2025.
