For many Filipinos, Pokémon has never been just a game.
It has been a childhood companion, a Saturday morning ritual, a collection of trading cards tucked safely inside binders, and countless adventures shared through handheld consoles and mobile screens. Three decades after the franchise first captured the imagination of millions around the world, Pokémon continues to prove that its appeal extends far beyond nostalgia.
This October, that legacy takes a new step forward as Pokémon RUN 30: The Philippines Edition makes its way to Manila, inviting fans to celebrate not by pressing buttons, but by crossing a finish line together.
Scheduled on October 3 and 4, 2026, at SM Mall of Asia, Pokémon RUN 30 marks the Philippine stop of the franchise’s 30th anniversary celebration across Asia. Unlike a traditional race built around speed and competition, the approximately five-kilometer fun run is designed as an immersive Pokémon journey that welcomes everyone, from seasoned runners and casual fitness enthusiasts to families, children, and lifelong Pokémon fans.
What makes the event stand out is its ability to transform a familiar fun run into an interactive adventure. Participants will begin by choosing their first partner Pokémon before making their way through themed course experiences inspired by the world of Pokémon. Along the route, runners can expect Pokémon Gym checkpoints, Pokémon Center hydration stations, Pokédex-inspired activities, collectible stickers, and a special evolution-themed finish that mirrors the journey Trainers have experienced throughout the franchise. Rather than racing against the clock, participants are encouraged to enjoy the experience, creating memories with friends and family while celebrating a shared love for Pokémon.

Registration also comes with a commemorative Runner’s Kit that celebrates the franchise’s milestone anniversary. Depending on the registration tier, runners will receive an exclusive event shirt, drawstring bag, themed race bib, Poké Ball armband, Pokédex Search Sheet, a First Partner Pokémon lenticular card, a Pokémon Trading Card Game booster pack, and selected packages will even include a Pikachu shoulder plushie. These collectibles make the experience memorable long after runners have crossed the finish line, appealing to both dedicated collectors and first-time participants alike.
Beyond the run itself, Pokémon RUN 30 expands into a celebration that welcomes everyone, including those who choose not to participate in the race. The event’s free-admission Pokémon Festival Zone will feature interactive attractions, themed photo opportunities, merchandise booths, sponsor activations, a Pokémon Time Tunnel, the Pokémon Experience Zone, and fan-favorite Pikachu Meet and Greets. This transforms the weekend into more than a sporting event. It becomes a community gathering where generations of Pokémon fans can reconnect with a franchise that continues to evolve while remaining true to its roots.

The Philippines joins several Asian destinations participating in Pokémon RUN 30, highlighting the country’s passionate Pokémon community and its growing enthusiasm for lifestyle events that blend entertainment, fitness, and pop culture. Regional sponsors, including 7-Eleven and UNIQLO, have also been announced, while registration details and participation fees are expected to be released closer to the event.
As Pokémon celebrates thirty years of inspiring adventure, friendship, and discovery, Pokémon RUN 30 offers fans a different way to experience the franchise. Not through a console or a screen, but by stepping outdoors, moving together, and creating new memories along the way. After all, every great Pokémon journey has always begun with taking that very first step.
