Keith Andrei teases new song set to drop this Friday, January 12.

Keith Andrei Teases January 12th Song Release, Bukod-tangi

Another independent artist is on the rise! Keith Andrei hints at his upcoming song, “Bukod-tangi,” in a recent Facebook post, scheduled for release this Friday.

Keith Andrei Teases January 12th Song Release, Bukod-tangi

On December 16th last year, Keith shared a video teaser for his upcoming song. Then, on New Year’s Eve, he spontaneously changed his profile picture to black and white, signaling the beginning of a new musical era. The next morning, he unveiled the release date for his new song on January 12th, at midnight. And more recently, he posted another teaser poster, building anticipation for the upcoming release.

He is another OPM gem, as we all can remember. This artist was the co-producer of Kath Erin‘s song, ‘Clueless.’ And now, we’re also excited to hear more of Keith’s rhythms in his new musical masterpiece!

“I’m really excited for ‘Bukod-tangi‘ because it’s my first solo release after more than a year of not dropping anything. I feel refreshed and I feel like this is my first time dropping music again. What excites me the most about the song is that it shows a new side of me as a producer and as a rapper,”

Keith Andrei in an interview with Village Pipol

Furthermore, he acknowledged that his earlier releases carried an artificial, repetitive, and insincere feel largely attributed to their generic formulas and lack of depth. Yet, in his upcoming track, he swapped out some sounds that were once present in his former releases.

“I traded the synths and the trap beats for a boom-bap beat with a beat-switch to a jazzy-bossa nova-inspired production that relies heavily on piano and bass guitar, fast delivery, and honest retrospective lyrics. It’s such a new territory for me and I can’t wait to see the reaction of my followers!” he also added.

Adding to the Anticipation: Unveiling the Story Behind ‘Bukod-tangi’

In 2022, Keith admitted that ‘Bukod-tangi‘ had been sitting in his drafts, fueled by his confidence in releasing more songs the following year.

However, unforeseen challenges arose, making it difficult for him to fulfill that plan. During this period, he immersed himself in hip-hop and R&B music, reigniting his inspiration and prompting him to revisit his creative pursuits.

Later, he disclosed discarding all his 2022 songs to create a fresh-sounding track. Rediscovering ‘Bukod-tangi,’ a piece that resonated deeply, he also found it had a unique sound aligning with his current artistic direction.

In September of last year, he completed the song. Subsequently, he crafted a brief, whimsical freestyle, only to later decide to shelve it due to his anxiety. His collaboration with Kath has inspired him even more to work on his song.

“Flash forward to December of last year, I decided to combine the freestyle and Bukod-tangi into one song, submit it to my distributor and finally have a release date. Not only that, I’m actually working on my 2nd EP right now that I’ll hopefully be able to release in the middle of the year!”

Moreover, he provided insight into the process of writing the lyrics for this song.

Keith has been making music since he was 16 years old. Awaiting his breakthrough, his upcoming song encapsulates his insecurities and struggles as an independent artist navigating the music industry.

And I think, artists like him also deserve the recognition that we give to other rising artists in the industry. Doing so not only supports these rising OPM gems but also helps us explore the depth beyond the tip of the [music] iceberg.

“I make music because I love music.” —Keith Andrei

He said that it has always been his dream to make a name for himself and to become an artist as his full-time job. However, finding a team and a record label to back him up for promotions is difficult.

“It could get really frustrating at times because the process has been taking a little too long for my liking, but whenever I feel like that, I just remind myself why do this in the first place; I make music because I LOVE it.”

His dedication and love for music helped him strive and fuel his creative juices to continue what he does. Not only that, but the unwavering support of his friends inspired him more to his craft.

As an independent artist, Keith Andrei suggests that fellow artists, like himself, should create music driven by their passion for the art form. The musical journey is not a race; instead, they should focus on the artistry of creating music.

“If the recognition comes early for someone else then yours would surely come too. Maybe in a few weeks, [a] few months, few years… who knows? Just focus on your art and do it because you love it —this is my advice for all the people who strive in the music industry and also for myself. I’m sure we’re all gonna make it and I’m rooting for all the talented independent artists in our country!

Make music YOU, yourself, would actually listen to.”

He emphasizes that the essence of making music is to express love for the craft, inspiring fellow independent artists to persevere despite challenges. Moreover, let’s support our local artists. Catch ‘Bukod-tangi’ by Keith Andrei, releasing this January 12th at midnight on all streaming platforms!
