P-pop’s Next Wave is Here and They are Ready to Take Over

P-pop is no longer just a genre—it’s a movement. Every year, new groups rise and make the local pop scene louder fresher and bolder. Rising artists like DNA, AJAA, WRIVE, 1621, and Pix!e are redefining what P-pop sounds like today.

Filipino Talent Reaching Global Stage

This new wave of P-pop artists proves that Filipino talent knows no limits. These rising artists build bridges that connect local creativity to global audiences. And each one carries a story and a sound that define this exciting new era of Filipino pop music.

To start, DNA stands out as one of the freshest names in P-pop. The trio, Ezri, Julia, and Tasha, were once known as “The Mitra Sisters.” Fans admire the group for their vocal chemistry and soulful performances.

Now reintroduced as DNA, their name symbolizes their unbreakable sisterhood, because for them, music runs in their blood. The group recently released “Don’t Ask Me Why,” a track that highlights their powerful and unique artistry, marking as one of today’s most promising P-pop girl groups.

Meanwhile, AJAA, composed of Ash, JC, Axl, and Alex, brings a youthful energy to the P-pop scene. They debuted in 2023 with their first EP, “4Ü,” led by the playful single “Cuppy Cake.”

Their follow-up song “Torpe” reveals a softer, and sentimental side of the group. It proves that AJAA can effortlessly switch from carefree to emotional and heartfelt, giving their fans both laughter and emotion. With their charm and catch music, AJAA continues to grow as one of the most exciting rising idol groups in the Philippines.

Managed by ABS-CBN’s Polaris-Star Magic, WRIVE (pronounced “rayv”) continues to show the strength of P-pop’s rising stars. The five members, Asi, Drei, Ishiro, Matthew, and Russu, first appeared on the 2022 idol survival show “Dream Maker.”

Their debut single, “Ooh La La,” blends pop and funk with a romantic twist. Meanwhile, “Señorita,” written by member Russu, adds a smooth pop-R&B feel that showcases the group’s versatility and creativity.

At the same time, 1621, formerly known as 1621BC, is a five-member group under PPL Entertainment and Star Pop. The members, Win, Migz, DJ, JM, and JC, also came from the “Dream Maker” and officially debuted in 2023 with their single, “Laruan.”

Known for their expressive vocals and refreshing sound, 1621 brings a laid-back but also emotional energy to the P-pop scene.
